On Friday it should be back on the road.

Berlin - Fridays for Future continues to put pressure: Shortly before the start of the coalition negotiations between the SPD, Greens and FDP, the climate protection movement presented its demands for the first 100 days of a new federal government on Wednesday. Together with the scientists' association Scientists for Future, it has drawn up six requirements with further sub-items. To emphasize this, Fridays for Future wants to take to the streets in Berlin again this Friday. Activists from all over Germany are expected.

At a press conference in the Natural History Museum in Berlin, activist Luisa Neubauer said: “We are not talking about the greening of government work, we are talking about comprehensive system changes that are pending. A “business as usual” in eco-liberal is doomed to failure. ”The coalition negotiations between the SPD, the Greens and the FDP to form a joint federal government are due to begin this Thursday.

To limit global warming to 1.5 degrees, the young environmentalists demand, among other things, the adoption of a 1.5-degree-compliant CO2 budget and a decision to phase out natural gas by 2035 at the latest fossil internal combustion engines from 2025 as well as an immediate new construction and expansion stop for motorways and federal highways. At least 14 billion euros are to be set annually for international climate finance.

Two days before the federal election at the end of September, Fridays for Future had called for more climate protection at a large demonstration.

According to estimates by the organizers, around 100,000 demonstrators took part in the protest march.

Initiator Greta Thunberg gave a speech in front of the Reichstag building.

According to the Berlin police, around 10,000 participants are registered for the demonstration through the government district on Friday.

According to Fridays for Future, the starting point for the protest march was moved from the Federal Chancellery to the Brandenburg Gate (12 noon).
