At the Lenggries town hall, the expansion of the attic is in full swing.

In the meantime, the floor on which the new office space is to be built has even presented itself once topless.

Lenggries - Yes, says Mayor Stefan Klaffenbacher, the renovation during ongoing operations has been a challenge at times.

“It was exhausting at times.

Of course, the demolition work in particular went smoothly. ”He was lucky that his office was on the first floor.

For the colleagues one floor higher, the burden was certainly even greater.

There, on the second floor, a door now closes the stairwell to the top floor, so that at least the construction dust does not spread throughout the house.

"So far everything has worked well," says the mayor

The roof is completely new. The so-called cripple hip, which sank in the rear area, has disappeared. The construction was replaced by a normal pitched roof over the full length of the building. The roofing is also different now. The green tin roof has disappeared, instead there are red roof tiles typical of the area. “That looks appealing,” says Klaffenbacher. "The view is really completely different now," adds Karl Ertl, Head of the Technical Building Authority.

The roof was tight again in time for the citizens' meeting on September 24th.

"So far everything has worked very well," says Klaffenbacher.

“We have great craftsmen and are on time well.” One of the sticking points was the relocation of the server on which the entire IT of the town hall is attached.

It was moved from the top floor to the second floor.

"It was moved before construction began," says Ertl.

That also worked without any problems.

There will soon be space for six offices in the attic

The walls, which give an idea of the new room layout, are already in the attic itself.

The very wide hallway has disappeared.

Now there is a much narrower corridor.

Instead of the previous rather small chambers, which could be used more or less for workplaces, there will soon be six sensibly large offices.

They are illuminated by four new dormer windows on the north and south sides of the roof.

It is not yet clear who will move there.

"A few offices have already been taken, but the exact division has not yet been determined," says Klaffenbacher.

Above all, the departments with little or no public traffic will be moved upwards.

“IT is moving upwards, for example.

The new staff kitchen is being built in their current room, ”explains Ertl.

Should a citizen ever need a contact person who is sitting under the roof, they may soon not have to tackle the three flights of stairs.

"We are planning to set up a citizens' office on the ground floor." The respective clerk could then use that, says Klaffenbacher.

The renovation should be completed in early 2022

The town hall is still scaffolded - also because the facade is getting a completely new coat of paint.

The scaffolding should be gone by the end of the year.

The interior work will then also be completed in early 2022.

The work is all awarded.

“That worked well,” says Ertl.

In the spring, the community will then think about how the outside area in the direction of Bahnhofstrasse / Karwendelstrasse should be designed.

As reported, the trees had to be felled there - in order to be able to set up the crane, but also so as not to shade the new offices.

On historical photos of the town hall you can also see that there were originally no trees there.

The conversion of the top floor costs 935,000 euros.

The municipality expects subsidies of around 330,000 euros.
