After winning 11 various medals, the Police Central Club won first place in the general ranking of the Republic Championship for Taekwondo Clubs for men and women, which took place recently in Damascus.
The team’s results in the women’s category resulted in the gold medals for Nurmia (46 kg), Miral Hanin (49 kg) and Aya Mia (53 kg), while Lilas Elias (57 kg) and Rand Hassan (62 kg), Tala Nisana (57 kg) and Fatima Baylouna (62 kg) won two bronze medals.
In the men’s category, Turab Nisana won the gold medal with a weight of 58 kg and Jaafar Khalil with silver in the over 87 kg weight, while Asad Al Khalaf won bronze in the 62 kg weight and Ali Habib 68 kg.
Taekwondo coach in Latakia Police Club, Esber Elias, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the outstanding results achieved by the club’s players in the tournament are evidence of the development of the game and the expansion of the base of its practitioners. The British Guinness Book of Records, most notably Abdullah Saqqati, Muhammad Faydo and Sami Hassan Juma.
