Saudi Arabia has announced the conversion of an oil rig to a resort called "The Rig", which includes an extreme park.
The resort will be 150 square meters and will be funded by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), will have three hotels with 800 rooms and 11 restaurants and the park will have a roller coaster, water slides, diving options and bungee. The resort is part of Saudi Arabia's vision to position the country as a leading international tourism destination and diversify its economy.

The new destination is marketed as "the first tourist destination in the world inspired by the daily oil platforms", the ambition is to host more than a million visitors a year.
