Savings banks: Loans in the billions deferred during the crisis

Thousands of Sparkasse customers have received postponement of loan repayments because of the Corona crisis, according to the industry association. At its peak, the savings banks deferred loans amounting to 1.7 billion euros, said a spokesman for the Sparkassenverband Baden-Württemberg (SVBW) on the occasion of the Sparkasse Day in Ulm on Wednesday. Together with the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, around 8,100 promotional loans with a volume of 2.2 billion euros have been brokered since March 2020.
