The higher regional court in Celle has sentenced a 31-year-old German to a prison term of one year and nine months for supporting the terrorist organization Hai'at Tahir al-Sham (HTS) in Syria. The sentence was suspended, as the OLG announced on Wednesday.

Celle - The public prosecutor's office in Celle accused the man of having paid a total of more than 2000 euros in six cases between 2017 and 2019 to a member of the HTS in Syria who has since died.

The accused admitted the allegations in a comprehensive confession.

The judgment (AZ 5 StS 4/21) is final.
