The higher regional court in Celle has sentenced a 31-year-old German to a prison term of one year and nine months for supporting the terrorist organization Hai'at Tahir al-Sham (HTS) in Syria.
The sentence was suspended, as the OLG announced on Wednesday.
Celle - The public prosecutor's office in Celle accused the man of having paid a total of more than 2000 euros in six cases between 2017 and 2019 to a member of the HTS in Syria who has since died.
The accused admitted the allegations in a comprehensive confession.
The judgment (AZ 5 StS 4/21) is final.

Charges brought against 24-year-olds for ISIS membership
The Hamburg Public Prosecutor's Office has brought charges against a 24-year-old woman for membership in the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS).
As a teenager, she is said to have followed her husband, who was married according to the Islamic rite, to Syria in September 2014 and joined ISIS there, as the prosecution announced on Friday.

The man from Delmenhorst was aware that the money was to be used to buy a Kalashnikov AK-47 weapon for HTS fighters, the OLG said.
The members of the HTS fight in the civil war against the Assad government and for the establishment of a state of God based on its ideology.
