Despite the hand of darkness that affected the city of Jasmine, Syrian children insisted on spreading peace and love by singing for their country at the conclusion of the Fifth Syrian Child Song Festival, which was held by the Vanguards of the Baath Organization under the title “Sing with the Children” on the opera stage at Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts.

“And the life of your dirt, Syria, you are the sweetest girl, you are the best of all.” The children’s throats chanted from the children’s throats of the National Central Orchestra of the Vanguard of the Baath Organization, led by Maestro Al-Samo’ul Al-Shammat, emphasizing with their childish voices that the cruel war will not be able to break their will and take away their dreams, and that the rhythms of their music will blossom with hope for tomorrow.

The best child performance award went to the girl Raghad Ibrahim’s song, Idlib branch, for her song “Ya Asfour.” The award for best child performance for the traditional traditional song was won by Muhammad Youssef Koueider from Damascus branch for his performance of Annabi by Karim Mahmoud. Kermani, Deir ez-Zor branch, who performed a song, "By Book Your Name, My Country."

The award for the best new melody for the song “Ann to Live in Peace” was awarded to Ihsan Khaddour from the Hama branch, while the award for the best new words “Ya Raqa Al-Khair” went to teacher Ahmed Shalash from the Raqqa branch, and the award for the best coach for the first category was awarded to Ammar Abbas, Tartous branch for the song “I Will Learn” and the best coach for the second category for the song Ali The beloved country of Lubna Bakour, Idlib branch. The committee also recommended sponsoring a group of talented children.

The head of the Vanguard Organization, Dr. Muhammad Ezzat Arabi Katbi, stated that this cowardly terrorist act that targeted civilians today and claimed the lives of dozens of martyrs and wounded will not deter us from continuing our work and will not lose hope in our hearts, minds or our souls, but we will continue to spread hope with work, joy, science and knowledge against their will.

The head of the jury, Maestro Adnan Fathallah, pointed out that there are promising talents that deserve support and care for their uniqueness and distinction, in addition to the presence of songs presented for the first time regarding the melodies and words that will sing the Syrian Lyrical Library.

A number of artists, musicians and teachers were also honored, namely the artist Hossam Tahsin Bey, Maestro Andre Maalouli, Imad Jalloul, Dr. Al-Muthanna Ali, Wael Shaheen Rawan Al-Musfi, Adnan Al-Azrouni, Muhammad Ali, Suleiman Harfouche, Maestro Al-Samoul Al-Shammat and coach Issa Al-Najjar, in addition to honoring the jury.

The jury of the festival consisted of Maestro Nazih Al-Asaad, opera singer and teacher, Sana Barakat, Head of the Wind Instruments Department at the Higher Institute of Music, Fouad Chalgin, and Director of the Technical Institutes Directorate at the Ministry of Culture, Priam Sweed.

It is noteworthy that the Fifth Syrian Child Song Festival, which was hosted by the Opera House for five days, annually releases promising Syrian voices that reflect the talents stored in our country and the good preparation that these children enjoy, enabling them to participate in local and Arab events and programmes.
