Tata Punch: New leisure for NIS 22,500

The Indian manufacturer is introducing a small and popular recreational vehicle at a price that is just that. With us? Not really...

While our market gets smarter, better and more expensive cars, there are places in the world that actually get basic, cheap and up-to-date transportation.

The Indian Tata is introducing a small new recreational vehicle, one that will compete there with cars like the Suzuki Ignis and Hyundai Casper (which is not marketed here).

The price of the punch is about $ 7,000, which immediately indicates that it is a fairly basic vehicle.

The first question that pops to mind is safety, does it meet modern standards.

According to Tata the model received 5 stars in a crash test (Global NCAP) but does not indicate the existence of active safety systems.

In the cabin, the same modern and handsome line is maintained.

The paddle relies on a three-cylinder 1.2-liter engine that produces 84 hp and is mated to a manual or automatic transmission - both with 5 transmission ratios.

The list of equipment is quite poor, and those who want screens, light sensors and wipers, cruise control, LED lighting, etc., will be required to go for the senior instrumentation version, which costs about $ 12,000.

Basic transportation as stated, not one that is supposed to compete with the latest semi-autonomous electric word.

But, in light of the gradual disappearance of the cheap cars from the Israeli market and the influx towards the next tram that will cost at least NIS 200,000, the Tata Punch is puzzling.

Is the run to grow the new and expensive is the right one, in general and passes the local audience in particular.
