The people of Munich are drawn into the distance again: After traveling was difficult for a long time due to Corona, many are now planning a vacation in autumn or winter.

Some destinations are particularly popular - and capacity is not always available.

Finally enjoy the sun on the beach again, discover foreign cities or admire spectacular landscapes: the desire to travel returns during the autumn holidays. "In the summer some were hesitant, but now the bookings are increasing from week to week," says Claudia Schmidt, who runs a travel agency in Bogenhausen. "Many long to get away."

An impression that Markus Kreuzer, Head of Travel Sales at ADAC Südbayern, confirms.

“The demand has risen sharply,” he explains.

The travel expert also expects that the vacation will be more expensive in the near future: "There will be price surcharges in many areas," he says.

Particularly popular destinations in ADAC travel agencies are warm regions such as the Canary Islands or Greece.

“At Christmas, Christmas shopping is the big hit in New York,” he reports.

"We already have inquiries about trips to the USA and Canada for 2022." Long-term destinations in Asia and Thailand are also being asked again.

Hotel and flight capacities are limited

The travel agency Tourcenter Holger Trampert specializes in long-distance travel. “Unfortunately there are still many difficulties,” says managing director Angela Trampert. "In Australia, for example, you are not even allowed to enter the country." The uncertainties are a big problem: "Uniform rules are very important for us." Another problem is that there are fewer flights from Munich Airport than usual. Both flight and hotel capacities are limited in many countries. "Unfortunately, we had to refuse bookings," says Claudia Schmidt. "For example, there are no longer any direct flights to Cape Verde." There are also bottlenecks when traveling to Egypt. "It looks better in Turkey," she reports. Sun lovers, for example, could still book a vacation to the United Arab Emirates.Eveline Finger from Cosmic Reisen also recommends Mauritius. “Customers tell us that there is hardly anything going on there and the beaches are still very empty,” she says. Her tip: "I advise you to book in good time."

Demand for Bavarian hotels is also increasing

This also applies in Bavaria, where tourism is picking up speed again.

"The demand in the hotel industry is high," confirms Thomas Geppert, state manager of the Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association (Dehoga).

“But there is always the possibility of calling the hotel directly, then you can get something.” To be on the safe side, it is advisable to book your winter holiday now.

“You definitely have to be quick,” emphasizes Lisa-Maria Standl from the Klosterhof in the Berchtesgaden district.

.

“We've been fully booked since it reopened,” she says.

Many bookings have also been made for Christmas and New Year's Eve.

"September and October went very well," reports Sonja Wilms, Marketing Director at the Hotel am Badersee in Grainau (Garmisch-Partenkirchen district).

"We still have rooms available in the winter season."
