According to the Federal Police, the number of unauthorized people entering Germany across the Polish border rose significantly in October.
By Sunday, the officials at the border had registered around 3,000 people, the federal police told the German Press Agency in Potsdam.
In August, 713 people were found at the German-Polish border who had come to Germany without permission, 474 of them via Belarus.
Potsdam - In September the number of unauthorized entries via Poland rose to 2,323 people, including 1903 via Belarus.
The Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenko had declared in response to EU sanctions that he would no longer stop migrants with the aim of the EU.
Since then, reports of attempted irregular border crossings at the EU's external borders with Belarus and at the German-Polish border have increased.
Thereupon the head of the federal police union, Heiko Teggatz, suggested temporary controls on the border with Poland.
