Experts expect strong winds across Saxony-Anhalt on Thursday.

Wind speeds in excess of 150 kilometers per hour are expected on the Brocken.

The state forest enterprise observes any damage.

Wernigerode - The German Weather Service (DWD) warns of gusts of wind throughout Saxony-Anhalt.

"Wind speeds of up to 90 km / h will occur across the board on Thursday," said a DWD spokesman on Wednesday.

In addition, there would be occasional heavy showers and thunderstorms.

Regional wind speeds of more than 100 kilometers per hour could occur.

According to the DWD, the strongest winds are likely to be felt on the Brocken in the Harz Mountains.

The peak should be reached there around noon with wind speeds of around 150 km / h.

Accordingly, the DWD issued a storm warning of extreme gusts of wind for locations over 1000 meters.

The storm field is still west of Scotland, but is approaching with remarkable speed, said the weather expert on Wednesday morning.

By Thursday noon, it should make itself felt across the whole state.

Then the climax can also be expected.

After the weather situation should calm down again in the course of Thursday afternoon, there will be isolated strong gusts again in the evening.

On Friday "the weather will calm down," said the DWD spokesman.

The state forest enterprise is preparing for damage in the forests and will monitor developments closely, said a spokesman.

However, little could be done preventively.

It therefore remains to be seen how the damage developed.

It is still too early to make a prognosis.
