The state budgets of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are to be passed without new debts in the future after the corona-related exception.
The SPD and the Left decided on this in their coalition negotiations in Schwerin on Wednesday.
"We are continuing the course of the country's solid financial policy," said Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) on Wednesday after the second round of negotiations.
Schwerin - The state will not take out any additional loans to cover its expenses and will thus comply with the provisions of the debt brake anchored in the state constitution.

Five days after the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the first exploratory discussion between the election winner SPD and the CDU will take place this Friday.
This was confirmed by party circles on Thursday at the request of the German press agency.

As a rule, confidentiality is agreed for exploratory talks;
it is about a first tapping of positions in order to sound out possible overlaps and compromise possibilities.

The SPD, headed by Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig, is at the beginning of a discussion marathon.
With the CDU and the Left, explorations will start on Friday, followed later by the two smaller parties, the Greens and the FDP.

In the state elections on Sunday, the CDU achieved its worst result to date in MV with 13.3 percent.
For Prime Minister Schwesig, however, she remains a possible coalition partner.

From 2006 onwards, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania had not incurred any new debts.
Thanks to bubbling taxes and compensation payments from the federal and state governments, the northeast recorded surpluses, which were also used to reduce old debts.
To ward off the consequences of the corona, the state parliament decided to borrow 2.8 billion euros in 2020.
From 2025 onwards, 140 million will be repaid annually.
