After the life-threatening attack on a company boss in the north Hessian town of Vellmar in the summer, three suspects aged 55, 60 and 35 are in custody.
The 56-year-old was seriously injured in his head with various striking tools on the premises of his company in June.
He had alerted the police himself before collapsing.

As the public prosecutor's office in Kassel and the police headquarters in North Hesse jointly announced on Wednesday, the 55-year-old from Kassel is urgently suspected of having commissioned a murder of the 56-year-old out of greed.
He was therefore in a business relationship with the victim.
According to the current state of the investigation, a 60-year-old from Dortmund and a 35-year-old from Ahaus are strongly suspected of having acted as middlemen.
They were alleged to have been arrested for complicity in attempted murder.

The investigators had previously searched several apartments and other properties in Kassel, Vellmar, Dortmund, Ahaus, Lüdenscheid and Xanten and found extensive evidence that is still being evaluated.
The perpetrators who are said to have been hired by the 35-year-old suspect are still unknown.
The investigation into them continued, it said.
The police suspect that they fled abroad after the crime.
