A general strike was launched today (Thursday) in Umm al-Fahm, following the three murders that have befallen the city in the past week. The municipality announced a comprehensive strike that includes shops, public and private institutions and schools, with the exception of private education, and called on residents to go on strike. It is estimated that the response to the strike is also high in the private sector and that about 80% of businesses show solidarity and closed their doors this morning.
"I'm on a tour of the city right now and the truth is we're surprised by the percentage of striking businesses, almost everything is closed," said Adiv. "People are an issue that affects everyone, so everyone also joins the strike."
Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, protests are expected in the city against the murderous violence and against the incompetence of the police in preventing and solving the murders.
Mayor Samir Mahamid interrupted his visit to the United States, where he was part of a delegation of local authority heads, and returned to Israel last night due to the situation.
An emergency meeting of the city council decided yesterday on a series of measures in addition to attending the rally and strike today.
Since the beginning of the year, there have been eight murders in the city.
The imams were called on Friday to preach the language of dialogue, debate, forgiveness, forgiveness and tolerance among the public.

Jabarin, 26, was shot dead yesterday in the city. The young man was shot while in the car with another young man, 24. According to the Aman Center for Combating Violence, Jabarin has been the 106th victim in Arab society since the beginning of the year.
"The police's treatment is not serious. Neither thwarting nor deciphering," claimed the city resident, who was also shot at his home this year.
"Make it a routine. The police come, work, walk. In the street everything remains the same. Maybe a military administration is needed, they have not tried yet. When it continues like this and criminals in the Jewish sector see that it is possible to murder and are not caught, it is a matter of time "Then there will be chaos in the whole country."
