"Great Danger": The story behind the city whose people were cruel

The severity of the actions of the people of Sodom was especially great.

Why?

Because they acted only with reason, and left emotion aside.

This is how the Admor Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto explains the Torah portion of the week, the Torah portion of Vira, in which we read about the sins that led to the destruction of the city

This week's Parshas, Parshas Vayira, tells us about the city of Sodom whose people were so sinful and evil that it was inevitable to destroy the city from the ground up. According to the words of the Rebbe, Rabbi Pinto, head of the fathers of courts in Morocco, the severity of the acts of the people of Sodom was great to have acted only with all and without emotion.

So said Rabbi Pinto length:

Mishnah says (Avot s) Haomr Sli Sli and Slc Slc, This is a mediocre measure. And some say it is a measure of Sodom. A second says it's a degree of sodomy.

You need to understand what a degree of sodomy means, a person who says what is his own and what is yours, why call it a degree of sodomy.

After all, in this week's parsha we saw that the people of Sodom were wicked with evil and corrupt qualities and Gd destroyed the whole city in the most severe way, so what is this person in total said that it is the degree of Sodom, what is so serious that man wants his to stay with him and what of his friend would remain with his friend and this is called Sodom?

but perhaps we thought well and say a great foundation, the greatest danger in life of every person dealing with life as the situation was in Sodom, each person sees his life in a mental. everything a person sees life he wants to take care of him In the mind.If he manages in the mind, the person is happy and calm and does the thing perfectly. But if the thing does not work out in the person in the mind, the person does not accept the things and resents in the heart.

Just mind, no emotion - and that's the result (Photo: ShutterStock)

The same way and the same deeds were also in Sodom, the people of Sodom were people who wanted everything to work out for them mentally and what does not work out for them mentally they do not accept. A person who says mine is mine and what is yours is yours, it is mental and it is a degree of sodomy. He who wants to walk in the way of Gd must not look at life in an intellectual way, but the person should look at life also emotionally and not just in the mind. A person who walks only that vessel is a degree of sodomy.

The Gemara says (Sanhedrin Kat.) That the people of Sodom would say we have a very good land way, the land of Sodom was the best in the world and would give the best grain, so why would foreign people come to live in their city and come to take their livelihood. Thus laws were enacted against every stranger who came, because they said mine is mine, it is ours and will remain ours and a stranger will not enter what is ours. From this they deteriorated until the Gemara says that they reached the most difficult things and serious deeds as the Gemara says they were in Sodom and all this in a mental way.

And so the Gemara says that in the city of Sodom they were allowed to ask for charity, a city of the rich who would give charity but they made a law that anyone who collected money should not be allowed to buy anything to drink or food, nothing.

They would make mental laws, charity is good but they would make laws against anyone who seeks charity.

Once a person lives life and does the mental things and removes every emotion from his life, this is the way to bring about the destruction of the world.

Man must have his life be mental but imbued with emotion, that emotion be a partner in every decision of the mind.

If the mind rules alone and determines alone, the Gemara says (Baba suggests to :) Jerusalem was not destroyed but because we discussed in it the law of Torah .. who set their laws on the law of Torah and did not work before the law, everything was intellectual and therefore everything was destroyed.

If the person does not involve the emotion, he can not reach and progress to anything.

My saying of mine and yours is a degree of sodomy, because it is only forbidden to mind and owe emotion, because with emotion man will be able to reach right and true places.
