In the past, Josef Rohrmoser could never imagine going into politics.

But now he is one of the most successful young politicians in the district.

Bad Heilbrunn - Josef Rohrmoser is now a member of the municipal council in Bad Heilbrunn, is the district chairman of the Junge Union Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen and recently even chairman of the Junge Union Oberbayern. The 24-year-old came into contact with politics at an early age. "My parents own the Reindlschmiede inn in Bad Heilbrunn," says Rohrmoser. “There is always a polling station in the inn. Even as a little boy, I found the whole process there exciting and always brought coffee to the election officials. So I was in touch with the topic from an early age and my interest has never stopped. ”Nonetheless, Rohrmoser could never imagine becoming a member of a party himself. "I had reservations and imagined it differently than it is - as I know today."

And yet the Bad Heilbrunner has always been involved somewhere.

Be it during his school days in the Bad Tölz secondary school as a student representative, in the fire brigade or as an altar boy.

“I was happy to do that.

I've always been an organizer. ”After graduating from school, the Bad Heilbrunner began training as a banker in Munich.

Today he says: “That made me politicized.” He simply noticed that there was hardly any politics for trainees.

It has always been said: “We have to do something”, but little has changed.

"So I thought to myself: I can change that."

Rohrmoser found most of the matches in the CSU

A classmate in the vocational school then encouraged Rohrmoser to become politically active. "I found that very interesting and looked at the programs of the individual parties." He found most of the matches in the CSU. “Nevertheless, I was still of the opinion that there must be all those snobbish people in corduroys and boat shoes.” Today he knows: “A few fulfill this cliché, but 98 percent don't.”

Rohrmoser's parents were never very politically active.

“They also don't know where I'm interested in,” says Bad Heilbrunner and laughs.

Rohrmoser has been district chairman of the Junge Union Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen since 2019.

Through this and also through the Bad Heilbrunn municipal council, the 24-year-old noticed that “you can really bring something to the streets.

Ever since I got involved, I've always thought about what moves people and especially the younger generation. "

"I want to give the young generation a voice"

In mid-June, Rohrmoser received a call from Daniel Artmann, the previous JU district chairman. He asked Rohrmoser whether he could imagine taking over the office since he was leaving. "I noticed that a lot is already going well, but some things could go better," says Rohrmoser. “And I think I know how it can be better. That helped me with my decision. I didn't just want to stand on the sidelines, I also wanted to run onto the field. ”On August 29, Rohrmoser prevailed against Christoph Picker from Starnberg. As district chairman, the 24-year-old sees himself as a service provider for the approximately 5500 members that the JU Oberbayern has. "I want to give our generation a voice."

He is of the opinion that many things can be changed in the CSU.

“We have to think 'out of the box', that is, unconventionally, and the party should also question itself again and again.” In his opinion, just praising yourself all the time is wrong, because “we also have to bring in young ideas and young ideas come up now from young minds ”.

Rohrmoser sees the advantages of being politically active in the fact that you can make yourself heard in a relatively short time.

"And even if you get headwinds, you have to rethink your own point of view," he says.

"Because your own opinion is not always the right one."

Friends understand that he has so little time

Finding a balance in addition to his political work and his job as a personnel officer at Sparkasse München is often not easy for the 24-year-old.

"Still, it's nice when it works out at short notice and I can meet up with friends, open a pint of beer and watch a football game."

His friends understand that he has so little time, says Rohrmoser.

“You have to have friends like that.

They would always come to my aid, no matter what, and I'm very grateful for that. "
