Kempten - Sonja Hüning is auctioning 60 of her paintings for the benefit of “Tabaluga”, the Peter Maffay Foundation for Children.
With this she wants to share her happiness with others.
“I've always been fine in my life,” says the painter Sonja Hüning, who lives in Wiggensbach, describing herself as a “real sun child”. And she wants to give something of that, as she
says
in conversation with the

. “I was looking for something with children”, that was a decisive criterion, it should get 100 percent where it is needed and “I didn't want any of the big foundations”. So she ended up at Tabaluga, the Peter Maffay Foundation for Children - from her point of view exactly the right thing.
This is where the proceeds from Hüning's auction of 60 of her paintings, which can be purchased at auction in the old town house (or by phone), should flow (see info box).
In advance, potential bidders and the curious can get in the mood for the work at the preceding exhibition, be it as guests at the vernissage on Monday, October 25th, 2.30 p.m. or as visitors to the exhibition until Friday, October 29th.
Hüning is always present in person from 2.30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The star comes himself
For the auction itself, which will run on a total of six days with ten pictures to be auctioned between November 8th and 17th (Mon / Tue / Wed from 2.30 p.m.), Hüning has a special “blast” up its sleeve.
Tabaluga co-founder Peter Maffay wants to personally support them with the auction and come to Kempten for it.
Due to other obligations, the originally scheduled days have to be rescheduled and announced.
Maffays Foundation offers socially disadvantaged, traumatized and seriously ill children and adolescents therapeutic help.
Old gang refreshed
Actually, Hüning only wanted to persuade the prominent musician Peter Maffay to make a statement as a “pusher” for the auction and to show it with a small video in Kempten. That's why the former radio presenter contacted her former colleague Matze Ihring from Radio 7. "He has already interviewed them ALL", Sonja Hüning lists the who's who of the music world and soon afterwards they were on their way to Maffay - a "very down-to-earth" and pleasant guy - according to Hüning - to Tutzing.
And when she let it flow in that “it would of course be great if he could be there too”, Sonja Hüning grins mischievously, and he immediately agreed to the first and last day of the auction. However, the decision was not to jump into the ice-cold water. “Before our visit, he looked at my website and was very impressed,” she says.
The Berlin-born artist quickly abandoned her original plan to go through an online auction. She trained as a make-up artist, worked as a mannequin and radio presenter with daily magazine programs, and finally refined her talent for painting through distance learning at the Hamburg Academy of Arts, among other things .
"That would have been way too expensive" and gone away from the proceeds.
But since the catalog can be found on her website (www.sonja-huening.de under “Künstlerin ohne Limit”), an alternative can be bid by phone.
Bidding also by phone
However, it has to be outside of the attendance auction time, she explains.
The bidder must call the telephone number +49 (0) 162/98 66 165 (also for information) to state his maximum price for the picture (s) that will be auctioned on the respective day.
The paintings to be auctioned were created between 2014 and 2021, on metal (partly processed with flex and needle), canvas and wood.
It is difficult to classify the painter Sonja Hüning formally.
Her pictures are “mysterious, wild and beautiful”, like the “orderly disorder” in her garden, according to her self-assessment.
