The 64-year-old soccer world champion showed that he still knows his trade before he told about his life - and of course handed out autographs.

Hilgertshausen

- Hilgertshausen experienced a great football festival on Tuesday evening when Klaus Augenthaler visited. The FC Bayern legend played with TSV-AH in front of around 100 spectators against the first team of TSV and then told about his footballing career in the fully occupied sports center. The crowning glory of Augenthaler's visit was his entry in the Golden Book of the Hilgertshausen-Tandern community, for which Mayor Markus Hertlein had asked him. After all, you don't have a soccer world champion in Hilgertshausen every day!

Word quickly got around that Augenthaler was coming to TSV-AH. Many autograph hunters came before the game, which the AH lost with Augenthaler in defense with 1: 2 against the first. A draw would have been fair, however, both teams were highly motivated, and Augenthaler flashed several times that he had not forgotten the craft that he once started at FC Vilshofen.

In honor of Augenthaler, master baker Georg Kornprobst baked four gigantic pretzel braids, which, when lined up in a row, resulted in the name “eye”. A real treat for all the athletes in the TSV home! Many wondered how it was even possible to win the soccer world champion from 1990 for a guest appearance in Hilgertshausen, but this puzzle was quickly solved: The Hilgertshauser AH kicker Martin Zeindl has a friendly relationship with the long-time Bayern star. Together, Augenthaler and Zeindl had committed themselves to the leukemia aid in East Bavaria and had already collected large donations to help children with leukemia.

When the 64-year-old from Augenthal spoke about his life, the clubhouse was as quiet as a mouse. The Lower Bavarian told a lot that he experienced in the 551 competitive games for FC Bayern Munich, but was not known to the public. There I heard about Schwabing nights that didn't really fit a professional footballer. Augenthaler, who now lives on the Ammersee, also indicated that he had to change his lifestyle quickly.

In his youth he still played as a striker, but at FC Bayern, with whom he was German champion seven times, he also cut a good figure as a classic libero. He came to Munich at the age of 17 and his football idol was Sigi Held. “The championship of 1986 is unforgettable for me, because we only finished first on the last day of the match,” recalled Augenthaler. As a national player, he only played 27 internationals. The most perfect player he has seen worldwide was Diego Maradona. "But in the game I already shaved him a couple of times," said Augenthaler. With the words "I actually never wanted to be a coach," he reported from his coaching days. He has been a junior trainer for international junior programs since 2017. He also never thought aboutto go abroad when he was a footballer: "I always thought red and white!"

Nevertheless, he gladly accepted the green and white pennant from Hilgertshausen from the hand of TSV board member Hans Pröbstl.

Of course, Pröbstl is no stranger to the red and white colors, after all, he is also the chairman of the FC Bayern fan club “Bayerntreue” Gerolsbach.

Like Augenthaler, he is also convinced that FC Bayern is on the right track.

What Augenthaler criticized, however, is the youth work with the record champions.

He assured the audience, even if he had played with Eberhofer, that he would no longer strive for an acting career.

After Martin Zeindl had finished the interview with Augenthaler, the visitors thanked the popular football professional with thunderous applause.
