Frankfurt / Main - After a pandemic-related Advent season without the magic of booths, Hesse's cities are holding Christmas markets again this year.
Some municipalities want to open these earlier than usual and for longer, also to give the showmen more sales opportunities after the failed market hustle and bustle in 2020.
This was the result of a survey by the German Press Agency among several Hessian cities.
For example, from Offenbach, where the Christmas market starts on November 15th: "This is intended to support the showmen and women after a long period with no income."
It will also start in Darmstadt on November 15th.
Gießen also wants to receive visitors earlier than in previous years, from November 18th.
According to current plans, the Christmas market in Hesse's largest city, Frankfurt, is to take place from November 22nd and, as usual, until December 22nd.
The exact concept is still being coordinated with the health department, said the managing director of Tourismus + Congress GmbH Frankfurt, Thomas Feda.
