Counter-Strike legend Richard "Xizt" Landstorm is returning to the Counter-Strike competitive scene as an analyst and coach after announcing his retirement as a professional player last September.

After an impressive career of 12 years in leading teams like Fnatic, FaZe, Dignitas and of course being part of NiP's legendary roster from 2012-2015, he joins the Danish team Heroic as an analyst and interim head coach ahead of the PGL Major tournament which starts on October 26th.

"Xizt" joins Heroic after they were noble to fire their former coach, Nikolai "HUNDEN" Peterson, because he was found guilty of a serious scandal that swept the Counter-Strike scene: the ESIC organization (or Esports Integrity Commission). ) Suspended him and dozens of other coaches for long periods of months and some even years after being found guilty of using a bug on the game servers that gave them as coaches the option to look at the game from points on the map that they were not supposed to be on.

twittertwitter

As you can see this bug can give a simply insane advantage to a group with the amount of information they can get about where their enemies stand. And because of the Corona crisis and the fact that for two years most of the tournaments were online format, it was very difficult to find out.

Eventually, HUNDEN got a two-year suspension, then HEROIC went into a serious crisis where they played without a coach, and actually used whoever was coaching their performance and mentality Truss "Robl" Rubel as the actual head coach. In addition to that, the cloud of accusations that hovered over the heads of the players on the team said that in fact the players were aware and partners in the coach's use of the same bug.

ESIC eventually cleared all the players of guilt except for one player (who no longer plays Heroic), and it's Nikolai "niko" Christensen, who now plays OG. He had already received a string of warnings and restrictive conditions about what he knew, and even in some cases helped HUNDEN get to specific places he wanted to get to.

One can only hope that Xizt can really take his vast experience in this game and convert it into the ability to coach the team.

And this is not just a group.

Heroic has established its position in the competitive world and it has already won several titles, so it will be interesting to see if the new coach can take it to an even higher level than it has reached.

I personally believe it will only contribute to their success.

We wish the former player success in his new role and in his new team, and hope that he will not have to endure scandals like what Heroic have been through recently.
