After the verdict, the burglar jumps out of the window and escapes

Immediately after his conviction as a burglar, a prisoner on remand escaped from the building of the Hamburg-Barmbek district court on Thursday.

The 42-year-old went to a window, tore it open and jumped out of the room on the mezzanine floor, the judicial authority said.

Two officers tried in vain to stop the man.

Hamburg - A manhunt had been initiated.

The district court had sentenced the defendant to two years and eight months for a burglary.
