2021-10-21T13:28:47.429Z

If foreign customers are not making a big comeback, the French show a real enthusiasm for these holidays.

The All Saints holidays are approaching and the French do not intend to shun them.

According to Didier Arino, managing director of the consulting firm Protourisme, they could even be more likely to go on vacation this year than in 2019. “

We could have up to

15 or 16 million starters depending on the weather and reservations. of last minute.

In 2019 14.5 million French people had actually left,

”he recalls.

Seaside resorts and countryside are notably on the program. Despite the loss of foreign customers, rental platforms are celebrating. For PAP Vacances, the number of reservations increased by 54.8% in 2021 compared to 2019, according to an internal study *. Gîtes de France for its part forecast an occupancy rate of its lodgings of 41% in October and 15% in November. For October, this corresponds to an increase of 10 points - or + 32% - compared to 2019. Finally, Abritel notes that "

the demand from French holidaymakers for the school holidays of All Saints' Day 2021 has returned to its 2019 level. It is higher than that of the 2020 school holidays which were marked by growing concern about the health situation

”.

By the sea or in the countryside, reservations are soaring

The campaign is the first popular destination: + 125% of bookings compared to 2019 at PAP Vacances.

The region which is progressing the most is the Center Val de Loire (+ 181%) ahead of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (+ 105%) with "

strong increases for regions located three or four hours by car from the Paris region

" .

The same goes for Airbnb where the campaign is popular with customers: Lot-et-Garonne, Indre and Ardennes are the departments that have recorded the strongest growth compared to 2020 in terms of reservations on the application.

Overseas territories are also benefiting from the reopening. At PAP Vacances, the increase in bookings reached + 192.6% - even if volumes are lower than for other destinations - with growth strongly driven by Reunion Island. Conversely, Martinique saw its reservations fall by 11%, due to the health situation. In the Abritel ranking, Reunion also ranks tenth among the most popular destinations.

The coastline is also popular in metropolitan France, for holidaying in particular: “

The French need nature, whether in the countryside or with salty air,

” explains Solange Escure, general manager of Gîtes de France.

For Abritel, the first destinations are also maritime: first among the most popular destinations for All Saints' Day are Finistère, Charente-Maritime and Côtes-d'Armor.

Corse-du-Sud comes in 9th position.

But the city and the high mountains benefit less from the increase in bookings, even if the Île de France is doing well thanks to the resumption of cultural life.

For its part, the mountain has seen an increase in bookings of only 13% at PAP Vacances.

No more telecommuting and last minute

A “

teleworking

effect

is also observed: the French go without necessarily being on vacation and combine leave and remote work, indicates PAP Vacances. The trend is also observed by the general manager of Gîtes de France: "

On the All Saints holidays, the cases where part of the family is on vacation and the other teleworks

" increase. “

Holidaymakers therefore make sure that there is a good connection,

” she explains. In addition, departures are planned less in advance: "

30% of reservations were made 15 days before departure, we are on the ultra last minute

»Details Gîtes de France.

Finally, short stays are popular and the weekends of November 1 and 11 should benefit from the craze.

If France is popular for holidays, the French will go abroad less than in 2019, due to the latest traffic restrictions.

Of the French who go on holiday on All Saints' Day "

30% usually go abroad, but for these holidays, they will only be 20% with very little long haul

" explains Didier Arino.

Unfortunately, for their part, foreigners do not resume the French vacation route either, "

this summer, 97% of our customers were French, it will be even more for All Saints

'

Day

", explains Solange Escure, of Gîtes de France.

Fortunately, therefore, the platforms can count on the desire of the French to disconnect.
