Alling and Lannach have been linked for over 20 years.

The anniversary should be celebrated last year.

In addition, a few Lannachers came to Alling in February.

Alling - The return visit should take place in autumn. But the pandemic ruined the plans. Recently, however, around 80 Allingers were able to travel to Austria. From Friday to Sunday the delegation - consisting of current and former mayors, community council members and representatives of the veterans 'and soldiers' association - was in the partner community. The Allinger were welcomed with a snack in a tavern. They got to know Lannach on a tour and a walk. A festive dinner, going to church on Sunday and a visit to the Franziskusmarkt offered further opportunities to get to know each other.

The weekend was characterized by a lively exchange of experiences.

The mayor and community representatives looked over the shoulder of their colleagues from Lannach on work in the municipal council and administrative tasks, the library, day-care centers and schools, infrastructure and trade, art and culture, sport and social issues.

"We have a lot in common and make us comparable, we can learn from each other in many areas," says Mayor Stefan Joachimsthaler.

Bridge builders for Europe

One thing was clearly noticeable in the speeches on the gala evening: This partnership does not just exist on a certificate, rather it is "filled with life by the people," said Joachimsthaler. Alling's former mayor, Eberhard Boerboom, recalled the beginnings: The partnership between the Allinger Veterans 'and Soldiers' Association and the Austrian Association of Comradeships in Lannach has existed since 1987. This gave rise to the idea of a community partnership.

During the first visits to get to know each other, the community representatives quickly realized: “We fit together well.” In 2000, Mayor Josef Niggas - who has now been in office for over 25 years - and Mayor Eberhard Boerboom signed the partnership certificate.

After him, town hall chief Frederik Röder - who could not be there - ensured that the partnership flourished for 18 years.

Allings Vice-Mayor Hans Friedl sees the community partnership as a “bridge builder for a united Europe”.

"Our clubs, as well as many private friendships, strengthen the connection again and again," stated Joachimsthaler and promised: "We will do everything we can to ensure that our partnership can continue to grow and prosper."
