Who is exempt from paying Social Security contributions?
Married or publicly known women who do not work - those who do not work outside the home, and are married or publicly known to a person who is insured with Social Security are exempt from payment. This benefit is also given to same-sex couples, provided that the National Insurance Institute has been informed which of them is insured for the purpose of the exemption and which is known to the public.
Work Disabilities - A person who has a 100% disability for more than a year and receives a disability pension from work may receive a full exemption from Social Security, even if he has additional income. In addition, even those who have a 100% disability for less than a year or who have less than 100% disability have the option to receive the exemption, provided that their income (from work or another source) does not exceed 5% of the average wage in the economy (NIS 528, as of 2021).
