Colleges and high schools in the deadlock of ultraviolence

2021-10-21T16:29:50.829Z

DECRYPTION - Teachers assaulted in class, brawls between armed students, harassment inside and outside the walls… Secondary schools are facing an unprecedented wave of brutality.

A teacher violently thrown to the ground, at the vocational high school in Combs-la-Ville (Seine-et-Marne), by a student she tried to prevent from leaving the class, while two others filmed the scene; a high school teacher in Pierrelatte (Drôme), on whom a hooded individual threw a chair after entering his class; a teacher taking the blows of an 8-year-old pupil in Brunoy (Essonne). All these facts happened in October alone. Media focus on these events or increase in violence against teachers?

“You need the most extreme firmness. (…) The force must always remain on the side of the right, ”

insisted the Minister of National Education, after the Combs-la-Ville affair and the dissemination of the video, which has gone viral on social networks.

“The boy will be severely punished.

It needs to be sidelined and re-schooled differently.

We have specialized structures for that and that is what will be done, ”

added Jean-Michel Blanquer.
