The corona incidences in the Upper Bavarian counties are currently skyrocketing.

In some places even much higher than during the lockdown in December.

Baiern

- The corona incidence in Germany continues to rise - also in the Free State.

Bavaria is currently in second place nationwide with a 7-day incidence of 141 (as of October 21, 3.15 a.m.; source: RKI) - and well above the average of 85.6.

It is also noticeable that the nine highest incidences in the Federal Republic are all in Bavaria, if one considers the top 20 there are 15 districts and cities in the Free State.

The peak value is currently 416.6 in the Berchtesgadener Land.

Corona in Bavaria: local incidences in almost 1000 - schools badly affected

But the corona numbers are also currently extremely high in other districts, such as in Bad-Tölz-Wolfratshausen (298.7) and Miesbach (322.4).

What is particularly important in the observation is that the incidences are very different from municipality to municipality.

The district of Ebersberg is doing quite well with an incidence of 151.3 on Thursday, October 21, but in the small community of Baiern, in the south of the district, things look very different.

Baiern has recorded 14 new infections in the past seven days with its only 1,485 inhabitants.

That may not sound like a lot - but in purely mathematical terms it means a 7-day incidence of 928.4.

High corona incidences in Bavaria: Unvaccinated people affected much more often

As the Ebersberg District Office announced at the beginning of the month, the enormous number of infections is mainly taking place in large family households.

In addition, schools and daycare centers in the Upper Bavarian districts are often affected, because the vaccination rate is still low, especially among children and adolescents, and the number of infections has also increased since the mask requirement was discontinued.

In an interview with

Bayerischer Rundfunk

on Thursday,

Bavaria's Prime Minister Söder also warned of

the “very, very high incidences” among schoolchildren.

The fact that, above all, unvaccinated persons are currently driving up the incidence in Germany is not new.

If you look at the split incidence for Bavaria, which the State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) publishes once a week on Wednesday, this becomes particularly clear.

On Wednesday, October 20, the incidence of unvaccinated people in the Free State was 204.5, that of vaccinated people was 26.2.

This once again shows the added value of a vaccination for the individual, but also for society.

Rising incidence figures in Bavaria: Söder towards an end to the epidemic situation

How things will go on in Bavaria in view of the ever increasing numbers remains to be seen.

The hospital traffic light, which is now the predominant indicator for new anti-corona measures instead of incidence, is still green.

However, Söder spoke out on Thursday against the proposal by Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) to let the “epidemic situation” in Germany expire at the end of November.

Then, according to Söder, society would be “

somewhat

defenseless.”
