The district office urgently needs new office space.

The stone barracks should help - at least for the time being.

Freising

- Actually, the district initially wanted to prepare the staff building in the former stone barracks for "low-threshold use" and only rudimentarily renovate some rooms for short interim uses by associations and organizations until the general renovation started and the house was expanded to become a second location for the district administration .

But these plans have now been changed, as stated in the district committee and then immediately in the district council.

Medium-term use is now planned: as office space for the district administration.

Therefore, the costs of the preliminary remedial measure are also increasing.

There are still some hurdles

The reason for the rethinking is the fact that workplaces and offices are urgently needed for the employees of the district office already now - and not only after the planned complete renovation of the building.

With what is now planned, between 120 and 140 jobs could be created on the first floor of the building, Florian Plajer explained to the district councilors.

In addition, a warehouse in the basement (520 square meters), school use in twelve classrooms on the ground floor and rooms for events and a magazine in the top floor are planned.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The changed use of course means that the structural safety, operational safety and compliance with fire protection requirements must be guaranteed, the necessary parking spaces must also be proven and barrier-free access to the building must be ensured.

All of this means that the costs of 340,000 euros previously approved by the district council at the end of 2020 have to be saddled up - almost three million euros.

The renovation work should be completed by April 2022

District committee and district council approved the new planning and the necessary costs without discussion and without a dissenting vote.

It is now planned that the approval for the change of use will be received in December.

Then the construction work should be carried out by April 2022, in order to be able to move into the building in May, in which the vaccination center and recently also the contact tracing team are located.

When asked for what period of time this new type of temporary use was planned until the general renovation of the entire complex, Plajer answered as follows: "Five years - plus / minus."
