While the interns are celebrating a victory in their battle with the Ministry of Health over shortening shift hours from 26 to 18 hours, and adding 1,250 standards at a cost of half a billion shekels, a senior health ministry official said: "The minister's advisers kidnapped him and the ministry. "Huge in the hundreds of millions, which will very quickly turn out to be false promises, because the Treasury does not share them at all and does not intend to stand behind them."

According to the senior, the spouse of one of Horowitz's advisers is a member of the registry.

As part of the summaries, the interns allegedly received a promise from Minister Nitzan Horowitz that by shortening the shifts he would achieve 1,250 new standards and increase the number of medical students, a move that is estimated to cost half a billion shekels.

And where is the money from?

The Ministry of Finance claims that no discussion was held with them regarding the Ministry of Health regarding any additional budget for the implementation of the outline for shortening shifts, and certainly not a budget increase of half a billion shekels.

"If the Ministry of Health has committed to the interns to fund the outline," he told the Treasury, "it will do so from its ministry budget."

According to the outline, the shortening of shifts will begin in ten hospitals in the periphery from March 2022, will be expanded to emergency medicine departments, internal medicine, and emergency rooms in two more hospitals in the center of the country in November 2022, and will take effect in all internal medicine and emergency departments in Israel. , Including in the surgical departments is scheduled for December 2025.

The Ministry of Health has allocated NIS 36 million from the ministry's budget and another NIS 12 million for its implementation in two other hospitals in the center.

According to senior officials in Horowitz's entourage, Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman himself undertook to transfer NIS 30 million from the state coffers, which the Treasury denies.

Regarding the continued implementation of the outline, the Ministry of Health admits that there is still no exact cost estimate and it will be formulated for the next budget discussions.

The estimates currently stand at more than one hundred million shekels, which, the senior officials claim, can be painted for the benefit of the interns from the firm's budget, which stands at seven billion shekels easily, at the expense of other plans.

"There are a lot of implications for the outline, standards for doctors, administration, medical assistants, and even our most skilled people do not know what they will be and what the total cost is at the moment. Implement the outline in the field. "
