The Federal Police have designated the German-Polish border as a focal point in view of the continued unauthorized entry of people via Belarus into Germany.
At the border with Brandenburg, the officers had found 3478 illegal entries with a connection to Belarus since the beginning of the year, the Federal Police Directorate Berlin announced on Thursday.
Berlin - From October 1 to 20, 1922 people came to Brandenburg without permission via this route.
This means that more than half of the people entered Germany illegally via Belarus in October.
Due to the number of unauthorized entries and in view of the high dynamic of the numbers in connection with Belarus, the border with Poland has developed into the current focal point at the land borders, said the Federal Police Directorate.
The border on the Brandenburg side is the focus for illegal entry.
The Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenko had declared in response to Western sanctions that he would no longer stop migrants on their way to the European Union.
The number of irregular border crossings at the EU's external borders with Belarus and at the German-Polish border has increased since then.
