Titus Dittmann was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Thursday for his decades of social engagement.
District President Dorothee Feller presented the award to the 72-year-old in Münster, as the district government announced.
Dittmann is regarded as the founder of the German skateboard scene and already spread his passion for the little board with four wheels as part of his teaching degree in the 1970s.
Münster - The entrepreneur from Münster founded his own company and in 2009 the "Titus Dittmann Foundation".
Under his leadership, the best skateboarders determined their world champions over many years.
Under the name “Skate aid” he campaigned for children and youth projects around the world, especially in crisis areas.
