24 foreign students are supporting Thuringian schools in foreign language teaching this school year. These are students from France, Spain, Great Britain, the USA and Russia, as the Ministry of Education announced on Thursday. The number of foreign language assistants has increased again after only 13 students were able to come to Thuringia in the 2020/21 school year due to the corona pandemic.
Erfurt - As Education Minister Helmut Holter (Linke) said, the students bring "Europe and the world to the pupils and help them to learn and authentically experience the languages and cultures of different countries." They will work at different types of schools throughout Thuringia .
As native speakers, they support the teachers in foreign language classes, in bilingual subject teaching or in extra-curricular activities such as in working groups.
