- That was not a nice announcement that Mayor Martin Vaas had to make in the local council on Tuesday: The small bridge over the Glonn in Oberallershausen, which goes from Albert-Schweitzer-Straße, had to be closed to all traffic on Tuesday. Road safety was no longer given in any case, the pillars had lowered and shifted alarmingly, so that even pedestrians or cyclists were no longer allowed to cross the bridge on this route, according to an expert. In 2019 the condition of the bridge had already been checked, according to Vaas. At that time it was limited to 3.5 tons and an annual test was planned. However, in 2020 it was canceled due to Corona, so it has now been "made up", so to speak. Lo and behold: the condition has deteriorated so muchthat the bridge must be completely sealed off. "The required level of security" is no longer given, according to the test report. “Now it's pressing with a new bridge,” according to Vaas, the consequence of the closure.
New bridge: implementation is planned as soon as possible
The town hall chief announced that he would meet with an engineering office in the week after next so that the planning for a new bridge could be “put on the line” as quickly as possible.
The approval planning should be completed "as soon as possible", an "as soon as possible execution" of the measure is planned, confirms Michael Promberger from the technical building authority on FT request.

Pedestrians and cyclists must use Münchner Strasse as a diversion to the next pedestrian bridge over Glonn on Uhlandstrasse (near the fire station).
Car traffic should not be impaired, as the closed bridge only connects to a dirt road in the direction of Unterkienberg, which is hardly used by car drivers.
And agricultural vehicles have not been allowed to use the bridge for a long time due to the tonnage restriction, says Promberger.
