Lapid meets with Harris: We agree that Palestinians should have a good life and hope (Edit: Aviad Ballali)

Next week, the Civil Administration's Supreme Planning Council will approve the promotion of planning and construction of about 3,100 new housing units in settlements in the West Bank and about 1,300 housing units in Palestinian villages in Area C. Approves extensive construction for Palestinians.

The planning council was scheduled to convene in August ahead of Prime Minister Bennett's trip to Washington for his first meeting with President Biden. But a few days before the council convened, Civil Administration employees declared a strike, which led to the postponement of the move. Following the meeting with Biden, the reunion of the council was postponed due to the political sensitivity towards the United States.

The number of housing units to be brought in for approval next week will be larger than the original plan.

The number of housing units in the settlements increased by about 900 housing units and the number of housing units for Palestinians increased by about 350 housing units.

A large part of the housing units that are planned and built will be in the isolated settlements deep in the West Bank outside the large settlement blocs.

The approved housing units for Palestinians are Bir al-Basha with 270 housing units, Almascope with 233 housing units, Mitzra with 270 housing units, Daqaika with 200 housing units, Khirbet Abba with 160 housing units, and Abdullah Younes with 170 housing units.

The construction plan for about 50 housing units in the Palestinian village of Khirbet Zakaria in Gush Etzion has been removed from the agenda, after leading to fierce opposition from settler leaders.
