Hundreds of storm missions: But no major damage

Despite numerous missions for the fire brigades, according to the Interior Ministry of North Rhine-Westphalia, major damage from the storm on Thursday initially failed to materialize.

By morning, the fire brigades had counted 366 missions, mainly in the administrative districts of Arnsberg (110) and Cologne (79).

Around 1,800 people were deployed.

Above all, they would have removed fallen trees or broken down vehicles.

Düsseldorf - The police counted 36 weather-related traffic accidents up to the morning - but without serious injuries.

Nevertheless, the Ministry of the Interior warned further caution: “If you absolutely have to be outdoors, avoid forests and watch out for objects flying around and falling in the cities.

An occasional look at the treetops or on roofs in your area can save lives, ”said Interior Minister Herbert Reul, according to the announcement.
