Since Corona it has become even more difficult to get young people excited about brass music.

In Irschenhausen they are trying to do something about it.

Icking

- For Reiner Jorde, who has been the conductor of the Irschenhauser Blasmusik for a good three years, one thing is absolutely clear: "The more young people we can get excited about music, the better it is." After all, it is much more fun in a group to close make music.

Jorde's heart has been beating for brass music for many years.

And for good reason: "Brass music is very popular and is played all over the world."

These days, three newcomers came to the basement of the Ickingen elementary school for the first rehearsal. With shining eyes, Jonas (9) presented himself with the trumpet, Alois (8) with the train trombone and Moritz (9) on the drums as a young group. "A fourth boy is" in the starting blocks, but can't be there today, "says the second member of the board, Hans Hess, who for many is the face of Irschenhauser brass music. “Nothing works here without him”, agree the conductor Jorde and his musician colleague Helmut Graf (tenor horn), who organize the first rehearsal evening together. The experienced brass players give the young musicians a musical framework and the necessary acoustic orientation when the first scale is rehearsed.

The boys all have experience. Jonas has been playing for almost four years, Moritz for about two and a half years, and Alois, who only started playing the trombone three months ago, fits into the arrangement with great resonance. At the beginning, Jorde likes to put on a youth concert that he had already sung in Beuerberg 25 years ago: "There is everything from classical to samba to mango chacha and the young people simply have fun."

The old hands want to pass the fun on to the youngsters.

For Hess, making music together is very important: “Making music is another dimension, another, a second world.” Without music, it would not work for him.

And he emphasizes: “The festivals need music.” What that gives you as a joy of life can probably only be understood by someone who makes music himself.

Jorde agrees: "Without music, that would only be half a life."

But it has seldom been as difficult as in the times of Corona to win new players.

Jorde: "It has always become more difficult in recent years because the range of leisure activities is so large." But currently the care for young talent is more serious than ever.

The three newbies are looking forward to their interaction and still have enough time to play football or tennis, they reveal.

Other players are welcome, however, Heß makes it clear: "We are also happy to meet new people who have not yet mastered an instrument." Adults with brass music ambitions can also join the junior group.
