Moscow-Sana

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced today Russia's readiness to resume dialogue with the European Union on the principles of equality, stressing that Brussels is not yet ready for that.

Sputnik news agency quoted Lavrov as saying in a press conference with his Cypriot counterpart, Nikos Christodoulides, that we briefly talked about the relations between Russia and the European Union, which have been in deep crisis for a long time, and this is not Russia's choice. We will be ready to resume dialogue with the European Union in accordance with the principles of equality and mutual interests, but Unfortunately, our colleagues in the European Union are not ready for such action.

Lavrov announced last Monday that his country had decided to suspend the work of its permanent mission to NATO and to stop the work of the NATO military mission in Moscow, starting from the first of next November.

This came in response to NATO's earlier decision to reduce the number of accredited members of the Russian diplomatic mission to the alliance from 20 to 10 people.
