Memmingen - The green corridor along the Memminger Ach between Amendingen and Steinheim was identified as a particularly high-quality natural and recreational area as well as agriculturally used area as part of the "Integrated Urban Development Concept" (ISEK memmingen 2030).
Citizens were recently invited to contribute their suggestions and suggestions to the further planning.
Four stations were installed directly on the Memminger Ach between Amendingen and Steinheim with the themes of village community, sport & health, play and learning, as well as cultural space and water.
And the citizens came to see which ideas have already flowed into the preliminary planning and what they can contribute directly to it.
The planning drawings that had already been worked out by the commissioned office LARS consult as part of the prepared investigation could be viewed at each station.
Employees from the city planning office and the planning office were on site as contact persons at every station and explained the complex elaborations directly.
And citizens actually made a lot of suggestions, but also concerns.
The suggestions were then recorded directly on prepared cardboard strips and attached to the respective planning drawings.
The result was an overall picture in which many suggestions at the respective stations overlapped and were often identical.
Most of the suggestions related to: Parking facilities - more benches - a natural playground - avoiding littering - public toilets - safe crossings to the Ach - safe access to the Ach for children playing - a safe footpath on Rotreiser Straße - a flatter stream bed - free running areas for dogs - a bowling green - outdoor catering - barbecue areas - a nature trail - a fitness trail - and much more.
The citizens of Amendingen and Steinheim are particularly concerned about increased traffic, dangers from encounters with walkers, cyclists, cars and agricultural vehicles, the littering of the stream, the paths, the rest areas and the possible barbecue areas as well as the dangers of dogs running freely.
In numerous discussions, the employees of the city and the planning office on site were able to take the concerns of individual citizens the sting.
In particular, the concern that some owners could be expropriated due to the possible renaturation of the Ach in the almost original stream, was resolutely countered.
Such a measure is in no way up for discussion.
After evaluating the written questionnaire in Steinheim about the planned green corridor, around 70 percent of the citizens would like to stay there more often if there were appropriate leisure activities here.
This was also confirmed by the citizens present from the citizens' committees from Amendingen and Steinheim, who would like to contribute to this promising project together.
