After investigation by the Wan Chai Police District, it was discovered that a drug cartel arranged for drugs to be transported by air from other places to Hong Kong in the form of normal cargo parcels, and then recruited young people to deliver drugs by express delivery.

Police officers took action yesterday (20th) and arrested four men and women, including the main brains and key members of the group, and exposed drug dealers using public housing units to produce drugs and seized "Kes" with a market value of nearly 40 million yuan.

In the afternoon of last Friday, the police received an informant that a young man was holding a package containing a large amount of drugs in a tea restaurant in Wan Chai District.

In response to the report, officers from the Special Duty Squad of the Wan Chai Police District rushed to the restaurant and intercepted three local youths (aged 13 to 14) in the cafeteria. They were Form Three boys studying in different schools, believed to be friends.

The officers seized a carton parcel of airmail arriving in Hong Kong in the seats of three young people. The carton contained a toy electronic organ. Two pieces of cardboard used as separate packaging contained about 2.18 kg of white powder. The market value is about 1.59 million yuan, and three people were arrested for the crime of trafficking in dangerous drugs.

The police subsequently followed up the case. The Wan Chai Police District Crime Squad, the Anti-Triad Action Squad and the Special Duty Squad have conducted in-depth investigations and checked a large number of closed-circuit televisions to locate an active local drug trafficking syndicate.

The group will arrange for drugs to be transported by air from other places to Hong Kong in the form of normal cargo parcels, and then recruit young people to act as a courier, and transfer these parcels to the joint person or the buyer.

In the early morning of yesterday morning, officers of the Wan Chai Police District Crime Squad took an arrest. They arrested a 23-year-old local man who claimed to be a waiter in a public housing estate in Kai Tak, and arrested another local 24 in a hotel in Wan Chai district. The two-year-old man and a 23-year-old local woman, who reported as waiters and unemployed respectively, are believed to be the masterminds and backbone members of the drug cartel.

After investigation by the police, it is believed that the relevant public housing unit was used as a drug manufacturing plant. A total of 53 kilograms of kid were seized at the scene, with an estimated market value of more than 38 million yuan.

As of last night, officers arrested a 26-year-old local woman who claimed to be a nurse and believed she was another registered resident of the unit.

The drugs seized in the case were packed in multiple resealable plastic bags and plastic tubes and stored in different corners of the unit.

The police also seized a large number of drug-making tools used to process and package drugs in the unit, including paint stripping water, electronic scales, filters, and more than 100 resealable plastic bags used to catalyze the effectiveness of drugs; Mobile phones and stored-value cards.

According to police figures, a total of 756 people were arrested for serious drug crimes in the first half of this year, an increase of 305 people from 451 in the same period last year, an increase of 68%. Among them, the arrested teenagers (aged 10 to 20) increased from last year. The number of employees in the first half of the year increased from 135 to 224 in the first half of this year, an increase of 66%.
