Two tourists, a German and an Indian, were killed and two Germans and a Dutch woman were injured in a shooting Thursday, October 21 in Mexico, said the prosecution.

The shooting broke out in the seaside city of Tulum (southeast) on the Caribbean coast of the Yucatan peninsula, it was added.

"Two foreigners were killed and three wounded by firearms inside an establishment,"

said on Twitter the state prosecutor's office of Quintana Roo, where Tulum, a tourist hotspot in Mexico, is located.

The prosecution then told AFP the nationality of the victims.

This is

"a clash"

between two rival groups that sell drugs, added the prosecution.

One of those responsible for the shooting has been arrested, Tulum mayor Marciano Dzul said.

The five victims were hit by stray bullets during the exchange of fire, and have nothing to do with the criminals, the mayor added to Milenio TV.
