Minister of Information, Dr. Boutros Al-Hallaq affirmed that the advancement of the reality of Syrian drama is a joint responsibility and a national duty because of its effective and complementary role to the media.

Minister Al-Hallaq's speech came during the meeting he held today with the Committee of Dramatic and Film Producers in the Damascus Chamber of Industry, where he pointed out that the Ministry and the producers are working in one line.

Dr. Al-Hallaq considered that it is the right of production institutions to work and profit, and it is the duty of the Ministry of Information to supervise their work in the interest of the country and to promote the thought borne by the drama, which must convey the image of Syria and transform it into a high-level Syrian drama industry.

The Minister of Information explained that the Ministry of Information will be the incubating environment for this industry without interfering with the details of its work, calling at the same time to organize this profession in the form of a room or a union that will be cooperating with the ministry.

The Minister of Information listened to the questions and interventions of the producers and the obstacles facing their work on the part of the Ministry, most of which revolved around the acceptance and rejection of the works by censorship and the obstacles they face in government institutions that require large sums of money for filming, in addition to the marketing difficulties after the media and economic war on Syria and difficulties related to the timing of performances on the national screen.

In response to the interventions, Minister Al-Hallaq promised to find solutions to most of the obstacles and problems facing producers and to form a supervisory committee consisting of the Film Industry Committee, producers and the ministry whose decisions are binding while overcoming the obstacles that producers face in dealing with state institutions with regard to filming their work, in addition to establishing the radio and television production establishment turn towards them.

Samer Al-Debs, head of the Damascus Chamber of Industry, stressed in his intervention the importance of dramatic and cinematic work, pointing to the interest in dubbing and promising the producers to provide the possible facilities from the Chamber of Industry.
