Neuhaus: No to the roundabout in the center of the village

The planning of the Rewe supermarket in Neuhaus has made good progress. The local council has sent the project to the next round of interpretation - in part against the concerns of the district builder and road authorities.

The planning of the Rewe supermarket in Neuhaus has made good progress.

The local council has sent the project to the next round of interpretation - in part against the concerns of the district builder and road authorities.

Schliersee -

With his concerns, the new district builder Christian Boiger has already carried out an extra planning round at the Vitalresort in Neuhaus (we reported). Something similar - at least in the result - he had now suggested for the Rewe project on the corner of Josefstalerstrasse and Dürnbachstrasse. The community should consider whether overall planning for the center of Neuhaus would not be expedient. In addition to the Rewe, the spa gardens and the planned fire station should also be included. And the topic of the roundabout on the main road was already discussed in the local council when Boiger's statement on the Rewe store was concerned. In contrast to the Vitalresort, the majority of the committee refused to re-drill the planning to a larger extent and thus to delay implementation again.

Road authorities are calling for a change in traffic management

Meanwhile, Boiger is anything but alone with the Kreisel idea.

Both the road traffic authority at the district office and the state building authority in Rosenheim spoke out - sometimes more, sometimes less vehemently - in favor of a different traffic route at the corner of Bundesstrasse and Dürnbachstrasse - possibly also with a left-turn lane.

Sacrifice Kurpark?

No way, says the local council

While the Greens, for example, were open to an expanded planning report and a change in the traffic situation, the majority rejected this.

On the one hand, as Mayor Franz Schnitzenbaumer (CSU) reminded, a traffic report proves that it works well even without a roundabout or left-turn lane: "Everything is clearly documented." opposed to sacrificing the spa gardens.

Depending on the proposed solution, the traffic areas would take up more or less of this green space.

Architect brings alternative solution for pedestrians into play

There were also doubts that the supermarket would attract a lot of additional traffic. At least the people of Neuhaus, who currently drive to Schliersee or Aurach to go shopping, will no longer have to do so in the future, recalled Karl Hiermeyer (PWG). Zoning plan architect Gerhard Krogoll also spoke out - after the vote - against “that the town center is spoiled by a traffic junction”. Rather, he brought the subject of pedestrians into play. These could be led along the western side of the St. Elisabeth retirement home from Bundesstrasse to Josefstaler Strasse. A crossing would be conceivable on the B 307, which would replace the traffic lights further east (around the gas station). This is no longer needed after the old Tengelmann has been closed - not even as a way to school. An idea, which also liked Babette Wehrmann (Greens), who had previously voted against the overall decision.

Too little public participation?

After the interpretation there were no objections

The Greens also called for greater public participation.

For example, from Sibylle Strack-Zimmermann: "Many Neuhausers would have liked to be able to express their opinion." The criticism goes in the direction of size, location and traffic.

Wehrmann suggested making up for participation in the form of an information event before the second public display of the documents.

Other councilors did not want to see the need.

Florian Reinthaler (CSU) recalled that not a single statement from citizens had arrived after the first round of interpretation.

“In this respect, I think that the majority are happy that something is happening.” Hiermeyer and Jürgen Höltschl (CSU) stated that they only heard calls for a swift implementation.

As is well known, the people of Neuhaus have been waiting for a supermarket for many years.

Against the four votes of the Greens, the municipal council has now sent the development plan to the next stage.

As early as the construction phase, Pius Kieninger (CSU) suggested leaving a row of trees on Josefstaler Straße for the time being - out of consideration for the residents of the old people's home.
