68 New Territories Western District Councillors completed the oath on the 8th of this month, of which 17 took the oath of doubt, including the Democratic Party’s Yuen Long District Council Chairman Wong Wai-yin and Yuen Long District Councillor Kwong Chun-yu.
The government announced today (21st) that 16 people including Kwong Junyu were ruled to invalidate the oath and must leave their posts immediately.
Another Yuen Long District Councillor, Chen Meilian, who had sworn in doubt, resigned on the 11th of this month.

The district councillors who were ruled to be invalid include Li Hongbo, vice chairman of the Tsuen Wan District Council, Tuen Mun District Councillors Tsang Kam Wing, Cheung Kam-hung, Democratic Party Kwai Tsing District Councillor Tang Hao Man, and Islands District Councillor Wang Jinyang, etc.
Eight of the 9 democratic Yuen Long District Councillors who participated in the oath were DQ, including the Democratic Party Wong Wai-yin, Kwong Chunyu, Wu Xuanhong, and Li Baohua. Chen Meilian from the district resigned after taking the oath.
