Not only disposable dishes, are expected to become more expensive and cost more for the Israeli consumer • The new tax on sugary drinks is also expected to take effect soon • Do you like cola? These are the new prices you will pay

The war on environmental pollution and for the sake of public health will go through the pocket:

two new laws are expected to raise the cost of living for all of us - taxation on disposable dishes and taxation on sugary drinks.

The draft tax order on disposable tools, published in early September, is expected to increase the regulation that will apply to the industry, by taxing disposable tools.

The law will take effect on November 1 and will establish a new taxation system that will, according to importers in the field, double the prices of many products in the industry.

The purpose of the law is to reduce the consumption of disposable utensils and encourage beyond the use of reusable utensils containing plastic, where the distinction between disposable utensils and reusable utensils will be made based on the thickness of the utensil.

The purchase tax will apply to all types of plastic, including biological and biodegradable plastic.

The draft order states that the reason is that this plastic causes the public space dirt as much as other disposable utensils.

In addition, following the government's decision of August 1, which concerns the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, it was decided to impose an order that includes a purchase tax on sugary drinks, fruit juices and concentrates and powders for making sugary drinks.

This law is expected to enter into force on January 1, 2022.

For example, the taxation for a regular Coke bottle will be an additional NIS 1.5 per bottle and an additional NIS 1.1 per Coke Zero.

A standard (1.5) liter and a half bottle currently costs about NIS 6.5.

After sugar tax, it will rise to NIS 8.

In addition, after the deposit tax, it will cost about NIS 8.3.

In other words, the total increase in price is 28%.

A 1.5 liter bottle of Zero currently costs about NIS 6.5.

After sugar tax it will cost NIS 7.2 and after deposit tax it will cost NIS 7.5.

The total increase in prices will be 15%.

A standard six cola currently costs about NIS 36.

After sugar tax, the price will be NIS 45.

After deposit tax, the price will be NIS 46.8.

In total, this is a 30% increase. It should be noted that both laws are expected to enter into force on time, with the signing of an order and then a transfer to the Finance Committee up to 60 days later.
