Young adults or unaccompanied minors have taken over the 15th arrondissement in recent weeks to rob shops at night. The pol

It's a nice catch from the police station of the 15th arrondissement of Paris. In recent days, eleven young “miners” - in police parlance, they are isolated minors and young adults, the latter posing as minors knowing that the criminal sanction is lower - have been arrested in flagrante delicto. They will have to explain themselves to justice. On Tuesday, four of them were referred to the Paris prosecutor's office. Their custody was extended by 24 hours for "refusal to report". "They did not want to submit to the fingerprint surveys", deplores the divisional commissioner of the XVth Damien Vallot. "And they are very, very familiar with hearing techniques," annoys an investigator.

The last of these arrests, operated by the Police rescue and BAC (Anti-Crime Brigade) night teams of the 15th century, dates back to Monday.

At 2 o'clock in the morning, the police officers who were on the run arrested four young people in an Italian restaurant on the avenue de Suffren (7th district).

Often meager booty

Four days before, still at night, two minors arrested in a mozzarella store in rue Violet (15th century). Last Wednesday, a hairdressing salon on rue Saint-Charles (15th century) was “visited”. At the end of a chase, three of the “miners” were arrested. Each time, these nocturnal burglars of opportunity target the cash drawers of the shops, often for meager loot, a few hundred euros. “Beyond the financial loss for the victims, regrets Commissioner Vallot, they break the doors, cause damage, blow up the metal shutters”.

At the 15th century police station, "traders are ordered to empty every evening by leaving their cash drawers and to equip themselves with an alarm system and above all to develop solidarity between neighbors".

Moreover, several of these arrests were made possible thanks to residents who called the police.

The video operators of the police station, in the loop, follow the movements and leaks of the thieves live on screens, and guide the police officers in the field by radio, live.

"In addition to their uncertain age, most of these young people, continues Commissioner Vallot, said they were homeless and came from Morocco or Algeria."

The Paris prosecutor's office could ask for bone expertise to determine their age and if they refuse, draw conclusions.

A 30% increase in burglaries in western Paris?

These arrests also raise the question of possible movements of populations of unaccompanied minors and young immigrants usually confined to the north-east of the capital - Goutte d'Or, Barbes, via Stalingrad (18th century).

And on which several police operations took place, driving them to other districts ”.

“We have had an explosion of burglaries for several months, laments his side Philippe Goujon, the mayor (LR) of the 15th century.

The elected official calls "on the State and the City to find solutions for these unaccompanied minors, who are in total distress.

".

According to the figures, there were 30% more burglaries in these arrondissements in western Paris, between January and September.
