The State Commissioner for the Issues of People with Disabilities, Matthias Rösch, hopes for improvements with the arrival of a new federal government.
"In the last electoral period, people with disabilities experienced a standstill in many areas," said Rösch on Thursday in Mainz.
He mentioned the efforts to achieve greater accessibility, integration in the labor market and the implementation of the Federal Participation Act.
Mainz - "The new federal government must tackle disability policy measures courageously and consistently."
Already in the coalition negotiations between the SPD, the Greens and the FDP it had to be clearly agreed that “deficits in the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities would be eliminated,” said Rösch following a meeting of all federal and state disability officers in Dresden last week.
The declaration adopted there calls, among other things, for a further development of the Federal Participation Act.
People with disabilities should not be forced to live in special forms of housing such as homes.
In addition, barrier-free mobility must be expanded.
