Miesbach - Local artists and organizers are to be supported with the help of a culture fund in Miesbach.

Discussions took place in the culture and tourism committee.

It is thanks to Corona that the culture in Miesbach can hope for further funding.

Although some of the pillars of the city's cultural life, such as the music schools and the Free State Theater of Bavaria, are being financially supported from the city budget, the SPD expressed the wish for further funding at a city council meeting.

An idea that was continued by the Free Voters and presented to the Culture Committee.

A fund is being considered, from which associations and non-profit institutions in particular can apply for a subsidy should an event threaten a deficit.

In order to make this funding tangible, two things had already been worked out at the meeting of the Culture and Tourism Committee: a concept for funding opportunities for local artists and a corresponding application form.

Funding when related to Miesbach

The prerequisite for a funding opportunity would primarily be a direct connection to Miesbach.

The events should take place publicly in the city and the artists should live in the city.

Since the money is not to be distributed across the board, amounts can only be requested for specific costs such as artist fees, room rentals and advertising material.

Although the concept and the application met with general approval, it still has to be refined in places.

Inge Jooß (SPD) would like to see the circle of eligible artists expanded to include people who do not exclusively live in Miesbach.

Fund management not fully clarified

When Aline Brunner (Free Voters) wanted to know how things would go if, for example, a young band wanted to rent the hall in Waitzinger Keller, city treasurer Josef Schäffler pointed out the fundamental problem of grants: perfect transparency is essential with regard to the legal requirements and the fund management has not yet been finally clarified, because of course events with commercial interest should be viewed differently than club anniversaries.

His suggestion to clarify the eligibility for funding in two steps will be passed on to the city council meeting, as will the question of what resources and sources the fund should draw from.

Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller, who, like the head of the Department of Culture Isabella Krobisch, has a positive view of the fund, suggested that the future cultural fund should also be fed with donations from the population.

Topic in the Miesbach city council

Other subtleties such as the question of a special steering committee, which, in contrast to the finance committee, meets more than two to three times a year, or the suggestion to apply for the fund after an event, must also be clarified, as well as the question of what happens. if the fund for the current year is exhausted or an event, contrary to all odds and probability, makes a profit instead of a deficit.

On the other hand, a fundamental question has been clarified, which Inge Jooss finally raised: Anyone who, as an artist and organizer, needs advice is in the best of hands in the cultural office.

“We always keep an eye on the cultural scene in the city.

If opportunities such as the music night arise, we also actively approach musicians or bands and offer our options.

In a joint discussion we can clarify which location an appearance is suitable for, ”said Krobisch.

After the unanimous committee decision, the cultural fund is now a topic in the city council.
