The appointment was made Thursday, October 14, just after the vote of the socialist party activists in favor of Anne Hidalgo as the party's candidate in the race for the Elysee.
The mayor of Paris and François Hollande met, this Thursday, for an hour, between 11:45 and 12:45, in the premises of the former head of state, rue de Rivoli in Paris, opposite the Jardin des Tuileries.
Officially, the exchanges between the two left-wing personalities took place "in a very good spirit".
According to their entourage, the candidate who is to (re) launch her campaign this Saturday in Lille, and the former head of state recalled the great victories of the left since 1981 and the election of François Mitterrand.
A way of re-legitimizing government socialism in the current political landscape which only credits Anne Hidalgo with a very modest 5% in the polls.
Some tensions
Hidalgo who must now, Hollande insisted, continue the mission. François Hollande, also part of the race for the Elysee with a tiny 3% in 2016, distributed his own advice on how to go up the slope, access the second round and win… against all odds. For her part, the mayor of Paris has undertaken to inform Hollande of the progress of her campaign, of the installation in the coming days of her candidate seat and of the composition of her team ...
So everything would be fine in the best of all possible worlds… And yet!
Difficult to hide some tensions between the two personalities.
The criticisms expressed by François Hollande in his book “Confront” published this Wednesday (Stock), both against the left - all of whose “candidacies are Lilliputian” - and, of course, in a more moderate way, against the PS candidate “today” hui ”, have left some traces.
Even if his relatives insist that he will be in Libourne that day to dedicate his book, François Hollande is not invited to Lille on Saturday.
