Due to several corona cases, the next two games of the Düsseldorfer EG in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) have been canceled.
A five-day quarantine has now been ordered for the entire team as well as the entire coaching and supervisory staff, as the eight-time German champion announced on Thursday.
There have been several corona cases within the team, it said.
Düsseldorf - The DEG games against the Straubing Tigers on Friday (7.30 p.m.) and the Nürnberg Ice Tigers on Sunday (4.30 p.m.) were canceled.
It is not yet clear when the games can be rescheduled.
"Despite all the precautionary measures taken, we are now also affected by positive cases," said sports director Niki Mondt.
"The quarantine that has now been ordered makes sense to prevent further infections." The club did not announce how many players tested positive.
On Tuesday, the Düsseldorfer EG had won the Rhenish derby at the Kölner Haien 6-1.
