S-Bahn in Großhelfendorf: traffic jams and construction site noise inevitable

The planned lowering of the stop in Großhelfendorf and the construction of a bridge are causing displeasure among the Aying people.

The planned lowering of the stop in Großhelfendorf and the construction of a bridge are causing displeasure among the Aying people.

Aying - diverted car traffic, blocked S-Bahn lines, unavoidable noise: the people in and around Großhelfendorf are facing a strenuous time.

The reason for this is the dismantling of the level crossing there.

Instead, a road bridge with a lowered stop is to be built in the Ayinger part of the community.

On Tuesday evening, the infrastructure company of Deutsche Bahn answered questions from citizens.

The railway wants to increase traffic safety at the crossing, reported project manager Manfred Rauscher from DB Netz.

In 2004 a separate pedestrian crossing was built as a barrier.

She only had a temporary permit.

After DB Netz had examined several variants, this solution was chosen: a road bridge.

Two-track expansion not planned

The preparatory work for the bridge construction on the forest road is to begin in March 2024.

Later, Deutsche Bahn wants to remove part of the existing route, almost 800 meters.

Here the track is to be lowered.

The stop will also be rebuilt.

A double-track expansion is not planned.

Parking spaces for the Fritzmeier company are not required for the lowering of the tracks.

They will be rebuilt further south.

As part of the measure, the railway also wants to renew the crossing at Göggenhofner Weg.

The project is currently in the approval process.

It is certain that the project will be implemented according to the current state of planning.

From construction phase 3 - it begins in May 2024 - the level crossing on the forest road is closed.

The Ayingers and all those passing through then have to do without the level crossing for six months, and sometimes even the S-Bahn.

Residents have to be prepared for noise and dirt

Traffic will be diverted via the Göggenhofen level crossing, which will then be converted.

The forest road should be accessible again at the beginning of November.

Especially residents of Mangfallweg and Siedlungsstraße have to be prepared for the noise and dirt, the construction site is being set up here.

In return, the railway promises fewer disruptions to the S-Bahn and "no more waiting times" at the level crossing.

Crossing the track is also safer then.

Mayor Wagner: "Every transition that can be prevented should be rebuilt"

The citizens asked at the information event about the meaning of the measure.

A local resident noted that there had been no increase in the number of accidents for 30 years.

Project manager Rauscher could not provide statistics, but "the requirements for safety at level crossings are increasing from year to year," he says.

Ayings Mayor Peter Wagner (CSU) is behind the measure: "Every transition that can be prevented should be rebuilt," he tells the Münchner Merkur.
