Haider indicated that the area of ​​his land that he will plant with wheat is 20 dunums, 3 dunams with garlic, and two dunams with beans, hoping that the farmer will receive sufficient support and direct the distribution of what he needs of diesel to be able to cultivate the entire planned area with wheat.

The lands of Sasa’ are characterized by the fact that they produce different seasons in summer and winter, such as potatoes, carrots, peas, turnips, radishes, tomatoes and cucumbers, according to farmer Ahmed Hamada Shaddad, who confirmed during his weeding a rapeseed field that he is keen to cultivate the entire area, especially wheat, but pointed out the suffering they face as a result of high production costs and the high cost of production. Medicines and fertilizers, insufficient distributed fuel, and high transportation costs.

The head of the agricultural association in the town of Sasa’ Marwan Fouad indicated that the arable area in Sa’sa’ amounts to 12.5 thousand dunums, part of which is wooded, and the rest is planted with summer and winter crops, while the number of farmers is about three thousand and 500 farmers, the majority of whom are currently busy preparing the land for winter cultivation, especially the planned area for wheat, which amounts to 2000 acres.

Fouad confirmed that the areas planted with wheat in Sasa’ annually exceed the set plan, pointing out that last season, about three thousand dunums were planted, and 1,600 tons of wheat were delivered to the state, and the production of Sasa’ constitutes a third of the production of Damascus countryside.

The head of the association indicated that the quantities of diesel that reached the association amounted to five thousand liters, which is not sufficient to complete the preparation of lands and their cultivation, calling for the association to be supported with fertilizers and to increase the quantities of diesel so that it can play its role more towards the farmers.
